Marius and Eng Kian celebrated their marriage at The Boathouse in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park. On a perfect Fall evening, the couple hosted 150 of their closest family and friends, most of whom flew in from the couple’s native countries – Sweden and Malaysia! Family played a huge part in every aspect of their wedding. Eng Kian’s sister baked their cake and his family brought Malaysian sarongs all the way to NY to distribute to the guests as favors! Marius’ family dressed in traditional Swedish wedding attire and surprised him with Swedish wedding sweets! Even their dogs got in on the ceremony, acting as ring bearers.

The couple is very involved in the arts, and in addition to a band and later a DJ for dancing, they had a full cabaret show during the reception! Their friends performed everything from show tunes to belly dancing to opera, and in between each performance, a speech was given. It was amazing, and despite language barriers, lots of moving parts and all these people meeting for the first time, the occasion was beyond joyous and beyond fun!

Congrats and best wishes to you Marius and Eng Kian!

There’s nothing we love more than a thank you note! Here are some of the lovely words our clients have been nice enough to share with us following their weddings.

I’m so happy to share some pictures from Aanie & Brooke’s Long Island tent wedding. The couple got married on the property of their friends Peter & Michael, using the gorgeous grounds for a tented ceremony, cocktails, dinner and dancing.

Aanie & Brooke selected our Panic Button Package, requesting assistance with selecting a florist for their personal flowers, creating floral arrangements and organizing guest transportation to and from the hotel a few towns over. Saipua created their gorgeous bridal bouquets and boutonnieres. The JAM team, with help from the bridal party, arranged the centerpieces and the bridesmaid bouquets with flowers purchased by the brides. Buses were on hand throughout the night so guests didn’t need to worry about driving and could just enjoy the party! Keiko Niwa photographed the wedding, and set up a photobooth in the living room. Scott at Tip of the Tongue served up a wonderful family-style feast, and DJ Lindsey kept the party going late into the night.
I really loved the many personal touches that the ladies, their friends and family contributed to the day. The wooden chuppa poles, held by 4 friends, were made by the couple. Brooke’s aunt provided the ceremony music. Aanie’s father created their “guest book” – a tree print on which guests created leaves from their thumbprints & signatures. Brooke’s brother made their cake, and friend Michael serenaded the ladies and wowed their guests with his rendition of “My Romance.”

It was a truly lovely wedding, and a very fun night.
Congratulations Aanie & Brooke!

After a week of rain and chill, we got a GORGEOUS day for Jenny & Peter’s waterfront wedding! The couple took photos and exchanged vows at DUMBO’s Pebble Beach, between the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges.

Officiant Carissa Templeton worked with the couple to craft a meaningful ceremony, beginning with a ring warming ritual. The rings were passed through the crowd and guests were asked to “warm” them with a wish, blessing or thought for the happy couple. It was a great way to involve all the guests in the ceremony.

After the ceremony we distributed walking maps to help guests find their way to reBar for the reception, where the wonderful staff provided drinks and dinner, and DJ Gaza kept it moving ’til midnight.

Congrats, Jenny & Peter!
